...or something. Its trying to add a 'net connection to the comp. What is it, how do I get rid of it? For free, of course.

    You mean minion, right?

Odds are a spyware program is running in the background, trying to get a phone connection to call long distance... Download winpatrolWinpatrol as a nice free and easy way of seeing what's loading on start-up (much easier to fix things than running msconfig). Actually, you can turn off EVERYTHING except your firewall, anti-virus, and DSL connection (if that's what you have). This should help a bit.

While I highly recommend both Ad-Aware and Spybot, they don't always turn off programs that are currently running in the background (some of the spyware turns itself back on while you watch). My toolkit includes both of those (you always need TWO anti-spyware programs, since they don't always catch everything by themselves), WinPatrol, and Avast AntiVirus and Zone Alarm Firewall. All great free prgrams, constantly updated.

And Daj, switch to Mozilla Firefox or Netscape Navigator 8. Both browsers have GREAT pop-up blockers and do so much more then I.E.
